Marine officials are releasing few details after the commanding officer was relieved of command and two staff members were placed on leave within Wounded Warrior Battalion East.

Lt. Col. Chris Hrudka was relieved of command by Wounded Warrior Regiment Commanding Officer Col. Larry Miller on Jan. 29 due to "a loss of trust and confidence," according to Capt. Andrew Bolla communication strategy and operations officer for Wounded Warrior Regiment.

Bolla told The Daily News that Miller based his decision on "issues stemming from a command investigation."

He would not provide details about what prompted the investigation.

Bolla said two civilian staff members were also placed on administrative leave though their names were not released "due to privacy concerns."

Bolla said Hrudka will be re-assigned to another unit aboard Camp Lejeune and Wounded Warrior Regiment Executive Officer Lt. Col. Larry Coleman will temporarily take command of the battalion.

Hrudka took command of the battalion on June 2, 2016, according to Bolla.

Prior to taking command at WWB-E, Hrudka was assigned in June 2015 to the U.S.Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command where he served as the director of future requirements, the principal architect for the development, documentation, and submission of MARSOC's program objective memorandum totaling $1.1 billion in the future year defense plan, according to his military biography.

"The Wounded Warrior Regiment is committed to the care and recovery of our wounded, ill, and injured service members and holds our leaders to the highest standards," Bolla said.

The Wounded Warrior Regiment achieves its mission through two battalions. Wounded Warrior Battalion-East is located at Camp Lejeune, where it operates a Warrior Hope and Care Center that offers campus-style access to a full complement of services, such as rehabilitation, counseling, and physical training, according to the Wounded Warrior Regiment website. Wounded Warrior Battalion-East is comprised of seven detachments and is responsible for all areas east of the Mississippi River as well as a detachment at San Antonio Military Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas and Landstuhl, Germany.
