Wounded Warriors greeted in Chemainus

Chemainus Valley Courier - 3/11/2024

The Wounded Warrior BC run made its way into Chemainus Saturday, March 2 for a stop at the Chemainus Legion Hall.

They endured all sorts of weather from snow to rain during the 800 km run from Port Hardy to Victoria. A group of eight runners started the relay-style challenge on Feb. 25 at Carrot Bay Park in Port Hardy and over eight days traversed down the Island to Victoria's Market Square for the grand finale.

The runners ranged from police officers to firefighters, to military members to paramedics, to service dog handlers.

The Wounded Warrior Run BC was started in 2013 by two Canadian Armed Forces members, and over the years has become an annual event.

There was a group from the Legion, Chemainus Fire Department and others to greet members of the run in Chemainus.
