The Kaye Straddle Seat, model SS1, is designed for use by children with neurological or lower extremity disabilities. These seats aid the child in learning to generate adequate force in the extensor muscles while maintaining weight bearing and alignment, skills needed for proper standing posture and gait. The front end of the seat can be angled downward, placing more of the child's weight on the feet. This seat also aids controlling adduction and assymetry of weight bearing of the lower extremities, while assisting in the development of forward weight shift, which is necessary to initiate rising from sitting. The adjustable height permits the amount of knee and hip flexion to be varied so that the child is required to initiate movement using varying degrees of flexion. This adjustable seat accommodates children two to seven years of age up to four feet tall and features a removable front handlebar, a contoured seat, and padded sides to cushion the knees. DIMENSIONS: The seat height adjusts from 12 to 21 inches above the floor in one-inch increments. The seat position adjusts from 4 to 9.5 inches from the front of the seat to the forward post. The contoured seat is 10 inches long x 5 inches wide. The hadlebar is 6.5 inches above the seat. The complete unit is 28.75 inches long including the base x 14.75 inches wide.
