Extreme Reader, model ER-1, is an optical character recognition (OCR) device designed for use by individuals who are blind or who have low vision. This device is a stand-alone OCR system designed to convert printed text and text stored on compact disks (CDs) or floppy diskettes to audible speech, large screen magnification (television or monitor required, but not included), a transportable electronic file format, or braille. Features include navigation capability, internal speakers, four-button keypad, high- contrast tactile labels, AT&T Natural Voices, audio and Daisy CD book reader, multiple format floppy diskette reading (*.txt files, *.html files, *.pdf files, *.rtf files and *.doc files), and computer monitor/TV compatibility for large print reading. This model is fully upgradeable and foreign languages are available. POWER: Uses alternating current (AC) between 110 and 240 volts. DIMENSIONS (HxWxL): 6 x 16 x 14 inches.
